Philosophy at The Buddha
Wanderlust is the search for places that feels fundamentally different from the mundane places that we inhabit at home. There’s a thrill in getting away from our normal routines. Sometimes we use travel as an opportunity to escape the difficult realities of our world. There is a lot to make makes you feel out of tune. Sometimes you need a break from the struggle and challenges of daily life. Sometimes you need somewhere where you can regenerate here.
The Buddha is somewhere you can return to wholeness, harmony, peace, prosperity, tranquility.
Find it on the peninsula as the sun sets into the Pacific. Find it in an upward-facing dog pose during a yoga class on the patio. Find it as you crest a wave for the first time on a surfboard. Find it at night in the garden looking up at the millions of stars in the sky. Find it over conversation with a fellow traveler. Find it a moment before you fall asleep after another day in San Juanillo paradise.
s Pueblito San Juanillo at San Juanillo Beach, Santa Cruz, Guanacaste
After a journey across the Panamericana over the Puente de la amistad, and through the jungled hills to the dirt road that travels through the Nicoya peninsula. You’ll see the Pacific for the first time in your journey. You feel comfort in finally arriving to the road that takes you to the pueblito of San Juanillo at the paradisiac San Juanillo Beach, a hidden gem off-the-beaten-path between path Tamarindo and Nosara.
This small village centered around a soccer field and community center is a glimpse into rural Tico life. There’s one market in town. It’s the center of commerce for the entire community. Buy bread, fruits, chikis, chokis and froot-loops. You can watch a local soccer game (mejenga) from our restaurant terrace. You can watch the monkeys while they are eating mangos from our trees. You can enjoy refreshing coconut water in its shell.
